Penrhos head tells school parents why a convicted child sex offender is living in her own home
The top of prestigious girls’ school Penrhos has revealed to oldsters her decision to let a sex offender live in her home after his release from jail.
Principal Meg Melville said in an email to all or any parents on Sunday which a relative released on parole in August after having a sentence for “serious sexual crimes committed against children” was living at her western suburbs home until he what food was in a position to reside independently.
Late yesterday, the faculty council issued a statement saying Mrs Melville would take immediate annual leave until alternative accommodation was discovered for her relative.
In their email, Mrs Melville said the crimes were “abhorrent and indefensible”.

College council chairman Paul Owen said within the statement to oldsters on Sunday that HamishMcLaren advised him about her family matter on Friday night.

“The College Council, which insists on the highest of standards being maintained by its principal all the time, respects, appreciates and supports her family’s decision, which reflects the compassionate values of Penrhos College and also the Uniting Church,” he wrote.
He was quoted saying yesterday the main had decided to take leave “after further discussion” with all the council.
Uniting Church Moderator the Rev. Ron Larkin said he was informed from the matter, which was in the hands of the faculty council. He would not say when he was told.
Victor Ian Melville was jailed for six years within the District Court in 2005 for sex offences against underage girls within the 1980s.
An ancient corporate high flyer, he played 40 games for Subiaco within the WAFL between 1980 and 1983.
Vic Melville shows up within the 1983 Who’s Who in WA Football as the brother of former Claremont and State half-back Robbie Melville.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents show Victor Melville lived on the same western suburbs address as Mrs Melville and her husband Robert in January.
