The cast of characters are settling looking their new situations. They think that nothing much should be happening to upset that world, yet, these are surprisingly wrong.
This tale of innuendo, gossip, lies, misdirection and intrigue results in authentically as being a comedy of errors and misinformation. The premise is not hard enough and merely subtle enough to give a good base.
Ma Foster provides housing on her “girls,” Bella, Chloe and Kitty. Typically the three in residence are missing. Ma produces a big problem over it. She even travels to the neighborhood newspaper in the event the local police tend not to act on her fears. She does bring in the out-of-work detective, the newest editor in the local newspaper and finally the city itself.
The central character is Henrietta, who was simply named following the town in question, Henryetta, Oklahoma. Henrietta has a lot opting for her today, she’s gone to live in the large city, OKC, OK and landed a career together with the local t.v. station. Even if this doesn’t help your journalistic career, it lets you do get her during Leisure and era of the afternoon. The usual players for Henryetta are Wynona Sue, Henrietta’s hairdresser mother stars in the “reality” show, see later. Her husband, Professor LeHough, a nearby bug expert is bald from a surprise shaving. Rodney, Henrietta’s boyfriend, camera man buddy and overall best ally is pulled and tugged by Henrietta and her immediate boss Miss Peg. Harold Mixon, the property owner and editor emeritus in the local weekly newspaper, recently put on the web is attempting to possess a pleasant and quiet Labor Day weekend together with his friends at the International Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.).
Another main characters are Gigi Carpenter, a feminist reporter turned editor in the local newspaper. Max (Maximo) Morgan a would-be gum shoe private investigator using a penchant for old murder mysteries, especially Dashiel Hammet’s “Fat Man” tales. Then Deano DeBoffo since the “reality” show director attempting to shot a pilot to get a new show. Finally, Shatner Lapp, as being a newsman, publisher, editor and all-round good old boy, comes to town to help in his Princeton buddy’s newspaper problems.
Once these individuals get involved with the gossip laden townsfolk, the misinformation flies. With an increase of rumors then the facts probably warrant, the three missing girls be a little more and much more objects of speculation and intrigue while little or no factual facts are given. The rumors start out mild since the missing girls are only searched for by Ma and Maximo.
These rumors and gossip finally resulted in a significant “reporter war” between Shat and Gigi. The misinformation here becomes the avalanche cascading over the news therefore the townspeople.
