According to International Business Times, the United States and Mexico agreed to improve asylum access to Central American nationals fleeing heavy violence in their home countries and consider alternative strategies to detention programs. The arrangement was reached during a meeting held by the UNrefugee agency intended to alleviating problems in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
